Galatians is one of the earliest writings of Paul, dated around 48 A.D., which is only about fifteen years after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The theme of Galatians is believers do not have to become Jews or follow the outward ceremonies of the Law of Moses. New Christians are to live in the guidance and the power of the Spirit. Galatians is about freedom in Christ, but not a license to sin. This 15-page devotion takes you through Galatians one chapter a day for six days.
Comment: What Paul is saying is, fight off the desires of the flesh and walk in the Spirit of God. Can we do it? It is not easy, but Paul reminds us in verse 24, “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” As Christians, let’s live by the Spirit, let’s walk by the Spirit, let’s enjoy the fruit of the Spirit . . .
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for crucifying my flesh. Thanks for crucifying the passions and the desires of my flesh and filling me with the Holy Spirit when I came to saving faith in You. Now Lord, help me continue to walk by the Spirit, to live by the Spirit, so I can ward off the desires of the flesh and enjoy the fruit of the Spirit.
