Day by Day Through the Bible: Twenty-One Days in John - Digital Download
The first three Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the synoptic Gospels because they take a common view of the life of Jesus. John takes a completely different approach. The theme of the Gospel of John is Jesus is the promised Messiah and the Son of God. By believing in Jesus, people can have eternal life. Many people suggest the Book of John is the first book people should read if they are interested in reading the Bible. Why? Because John tells his readers Jesus is God, you do not know God unless you know Jesus, and if you do not believe Jesus is God you miss the whole point of why Jesus came to earth. This 49-page devotion takes you through John one chapter a day for twenty-one days.

Comment: First, Jesus, the Son of God, needed to pray. He wanted to pray. And He prayed for others. Do you feel a need to pray? Do you want to pray? And do you pray for others? Secondly, Jesus expressed tremendous compassion for those the Father had given Him. Who are you compassionate about? Do you lift them up in prayer? Thirdly, Jesus asks the Father to sanctify them in the truth, “. . . thy Word is truth” (v. 17, KJV). Are you sanctified in the truth? Are you immersed in God’s Word?
Prayer: Father, we cannot imagine the agony You went through the day Jesus was crucified. For those of us who are parents, we could not imagine seeing one of our children die like this. But, to You, it was even more significant because it was the price You offered for all the sin of the world. This kind of love is unfathomable. You sent Your only begotten Son as a sacrifice, so we could bridge the gap and have eternity with You. Unbelievable. Amazing. We thank You for Your amazing love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
