Day by Day Through the Bible: Thirty-One Days in Jeremiah - Digital Download
Jeremiah had a difficult life. His messages of repentance were not well received. His hometown plotted against him and he suffered much persecution during his forty-year ministry. At God’s command, he never married. Though his ministry spanned four decades, he apparently had only two converts. He is known as the weeping prophet, for weeping over the condition of Israel. His task was to hammer home the message that the fall of Jerusalem was not God’s fault, rather, because of Judah’s unfaithfulness to God and listening to false prophets. The theme in the Book of Jeremiah is God’s judgment on breaking His covenant, as well as His displeasure with sin. Jeremiah asks people over one hundred times to turn around or repent. This 58-page devotion takes you through the fifty-two chapters of Jeremiah in thirty-one days.
Comment: What kind of pressure are you under? Is your faith ridiculed by your friends or members of your family or your co-workers? If so, do you get quiet before them? Or do you stand bold and proclaim the truth of your God?
Prayer: Lord, through Your Word we pray we could learn how to pray more effectively, more appropriately, to You. Remind us, Lord, prayer is not just us talking to You, it is allowing You to speak to us. Because we spend time in Your Word, might You change our prayers toward You. We ask it, in Your name. Amen.
