Day by Day Through the Bible: Thirty-One Days in Isaiah - Digital Download
Isaiah is the second longest book of the Bible behind Psalms. The central theme is God Himself and He does all things for His own sake. Isaiah announces God’s charge against Israel. They have received much from God and should be grateful. But instead, they have despised God. By Isaiah’s time, Israel no longer trusted in the promises of God. Instead, they aligned themselves with the promises of the world. Sound familiar. Salvation is a key concept in this book. In one of its Hebrew forms, salvation is mentioned nearly once a chapter. This 64-page devotion takes you through the sixty-six chapters of Isaiah in thirty-one days.

Comment: Years ago, I heard a pastor preach on Isaiah. I have heard thousands of sermons in my fifty years of Christianity and remember few; but the time I heard that pastor quote Isaiah 1:18, I remember. “Come now, let us reason together . . .” (v. 18), he proclaimed from the pulpit! Christianity is not blind faith; it can be reasoned. At that time in my Christian life, I walked by faith, but not with much spiritual maturity. I did not understand Christianity could be reasoned, it stands the test of thoughtful interrogation, it is solid ground.
Prayer: You invited Ahaz to ask a sign of the Lord and he refused. You invite us to inquire of You. May we not refuse, but may we come to You and listen for Your small, still voice that will help us make decisions, that will guide us in the steps we want and need to take in life. Thank You for Your promises we find in Your Word.
