Day by Day Through the Bible: Ten Days in Ezra - Digital Download
Ezra was chosen by God to bring a nation back to God’s Word. Ezra 7:10 says, “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel.” To succeed, he had to demonstrate spiritual leadership. In the Book of Ezra, I found twelve practical principles of leadership the priests followed to lead a nation back to God’s Word. Understanding and practicing those leadership principles will help you in your career, with your family, and in your private life. We will look at these twelve practical principles of leadership throughout the Book of Ezra. This 24-page devotion takes you through Ezra in ten days.

Comment: Let’s look at a third leadership principle called operating within priorities. Ezra 3:2 demonstrates Ezra priorities. They built an altar to God first. What is your first priority in life? Making a living, your family, a ministry, yourself, God? You are busy, overcommitted, stretched to the limit, wondering how to get it all done. To reestablish religion during a national rebuilding program, Ezra faced similar challenges, yet he operated within priorities. Do you? Are you operating within the priorities of your life? Most Christians would list their priorities in this order: my relationship with God, my family, my ministry or outreach, and then work. Do you agree with that kind of a list? If so, are you living according to your priorities? Or does work overwhelm the first three?
Prayer: Lord, help us understand even when we are about Your business, the opposition comes. Sometimes it appears that the opposition wins, even for a season. But as we just learned, Ezra 4 is not the end of the story. The opposition you may be facing is not the end of your story either. Lord, help me persevere, whether the enemy is close to me on the inside, or the enemy is from the outside. Regardless of its source, Lord, give me victory in Your name. I look forward to the day this battle is over, and You allow me to be victorious. I will give You the praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
