Day by Day Through the Bible: Sixteen Days in Mark - Digital Download
John Mark is the Mark of the Gospel of Mark. Mark wrote for Peter, and that is what gives him the authority to be one of the four gospel writers. The theme of Mark is to present and defend Jesus’ universal call to discipleship. To Mark, discipleship is essentially a relationship with Jesus. This includes trusting in Him, confessing Him, following His teaching, and being shaped by a relationship to Him. It also means facing rejection like Jesus did. There is no continuous story line in the Gospel of Mark, rather just a collection of events, a collage of the life of Jesus. It is fast-paced and action-packed. This 35-page devotion takes you through Mark one chapter a day for sixteen days.

Comment: A storm is raging on the sea, and Jesus is asleep in the stern of the boat. Are you peaceful enough in your spirituality you can sleep through the storms raging around you in life? If not, lean on the one who can rebuke the storm and calm the blowing winds around you. Even the disciples after that said, “. . . ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (v. 41). Yes, Jesus can calm the storms in your life. Lean into the Word of God. Lean into Jesus.
Prayer: Jesus, we come to You today and thank You that You can deliver people from demons, You can heal the sick, You can even raise the dead. Thank You for Your miracle-working power. By reading these stories, might You increase our faith in You. May we believe in the miracle-working power of Jesus, in whose name, we pray. Amen.
