Day by Day Through the Bible: Sixteen Days in 1 Corinthians - Digital Download
The letter of 1 Corinthians is very relevant today. The same issues present in the church at Corinth, still plague our churches: the relationship between Christians and pagan culture; the division within churches; church practices like the Lord’s Supper, and the use of spiritual gifts. The letter also deals with personal matters like sex, marriage, celibacy, and virtues like love. There are also two “firsts” in 1 Corinthians. The first “first” is the first announcement of our bodily resurrection. The second “first” is the first recording of the church celebrating the Lord’s Supper. This 35-page devotion takes you through 1 Corinthians one chapter a day for sixteen days.

Comment: Let’s dwell on a few points made in my journal in 2015. The first point was in verse 2, “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.” I mentioned I believe God has given me stewardship over my family, my home, the Ezra Project, and as a volunteer in The Gideons International serving on the Executive Committee. What has God given you stewardship over? Whatever your list is, He has asked us to be trustworthy. In fact, He goes beyond asking us, He demands it. This verse says it is required of stewards to be found trustworthy. A little later, Paul reminds us the Lord judges us. So, whatever He has given us stewardship over, He wants us to be trustworthy, and He judges us accordingly.
Prayer: Father, help me have the mind of Christ. I cannot even comprehend what that statement means, Lord, but You said it here in Your Word that we can have the mind of Christ, so we pray it so. We ask humbly You impart to us the mind of Christ so we can be ambassadors for You, witnesses for You. So we can speak spiritually on Your behalf to those who need to hear spiritual truth. Father, by faith, we ask for the mind of Christ. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
