Day by Day Through the Bible: Five Days in 1 Thessalonians - Digital Download
Paul, Timothy, and Silas all preached in the synagogue in Thessalonica to Jews and God-fearing Gentiles, and many converted to Christianity. Jewish opponents instigated a riot against Jason, Paul’s host, forcing them all to leave Thessalonica prematurely. Paul was concerned for the new believers in Thessalonica, so he sent Timothy back there a few months later. The most prominent theme of the letter is the second coming of Jesus. It is mentioned in every chapter of the book. Paul tells us how to prepare for the return of Christ. The church in Thessalonica was the first Paul ever wrote a letter to. This 18-page devotion takes you through 1 Thessalonians in five days, one chapter a day.
Comment: God tests our hearts. Are we willing to stand up for the Lord? If so, we do it as we learned in this chapter. Our conduct should be holy, righteous, and blameless. Sharing our faith does not have to be argumentative. We are to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
Prayer: Father, some today might be suffering affliction. They may be suffering persecution for their faith in You. If so, we pray they would be strengthened by this passage and they would stand firm, hold fast, for You this day. Beyond just standing, Lord, I hope we continue to walk, walk toward You.
