Day By Day Through The Bible: Twenty-Eight Days in 1 & 2 Kings - Digital Download
1 and 2 Kings describe the period of the monarchy in ancient Israel between about 970 and 586 B.C. The theme of the two books is an explanation of Israel’s later monarchy period in terms of the theological vision outlined in Deuteronomy. Basically, that a good, all-powerful God oversaw the destruction of Jerusalem and His temple, and the exile to Babylon begins because of Israel’s sin. Yet, there remains hope because God’s chosen royal line of kings did not come to an end, and God remains ready to forgive those who repent. 1 Kings chronicles the many ways God’s people rob themselves by following false gods, yet God is ever-present in the ups and downs of 1 and 2 Kings. This 56-page devotion takes you through 1 and 2 Kings in twenty-eight days.
Comment: Wouldn’t it be nice for God to appear to you in a dream and ask you what you want? If He did, what would your request be? How could God equip you to serve Him? I know for me, I pray many times for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in my own life, and I believe many times, God answered that prayer in decisions I have made over my lifetime.
Prayer: Father, we thank You for these wonderful chapters. Chapters of prosperity, wealth, and blessing. When we walk in Your ways, You are a more than enough God. Your desire is to shower us with blessings so we have more than enough. But thank You for reminding us that You are conditional. You expect some things from us, too. May we walk in Your ways. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
